Murphy
Household AI assistant for managing the mental load of running a home.
Murphy is a household assistant I built because our family coordination system was a Slack DM nobody checked.
The mental load of running a home is real and almost entirely invisible until something falls through. Someone forgets to defrost dinner. The school notes go unread. Three people independently check whether we have flour and all three check the wrong cupboard. The problem is not that people are disorganised. The problem is that the operating picture of a household lives in one person's head and everyone else is guessing.
Murphy connects to a Skylight display and handles the ambient layer: shopping list management, meal planning, recurring reminders, and enough household context that nobody has to hold the full picture simultaneously. The idea is to externalise the cognitive load, not automate the decisions.
Built on the Claude API, Next.js, Vercel, and Supabase. Still in daily use. Still getting worse before it gets better, which is the honest status of most personal projects.
